Hotels Gain Across the Board

Local hotels increased rates, revenue, and occupancy in September, a report by CBRE Hotels said.

The average daily rate for area hotels was about $196, up 1.8%; RevPAR increased 3.5% to $154; and occupancy increased 1.7% to 78.8%.

CBRE Hotels tracks numbers in seven OC submarkets: Anaheim, Costa Mesa, the Airport area, North OC, South OC, Newport Beach, and Huntington Beach.

Anaheim reported the highest gains in September for average rates and revenues, increasing 3.8% to $197 and 7.6% to $157, respectively.

Costa Mesa posted the highest occupancy increase, rising 4.5% to 77.3%.

Newport Beach was once again tops across the board, despite posting a decline in occupancy. Rates rose 2.8% to $300; RevPAR was up 1.7% to $243; and occupancy slipped 1% to 81%.

Year to date, rates and room revenues increased while occupancy dipped slightly.
