CES 2013: Locals in Las Vegas

The 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show drew its usual big crowds of tech executives and enthusiasts to Las Vegas, including more than 100 companies from Orange County among the 3,000 or so exhibitors expected. New products are a key to standing out from the crowd, and several local companies brought fresh merchandise to the show (see related stories, pages 1 and 3).

Startup Martian Watches: showed what it bills as the world’s first voice-activated smart watch to work in snyc with smart phones. The company has headquarters in Irvine and raised initial funding through Kickstarter.

iNotebook: Anaheim-based Targus International Group highlighted its product, which transports texts and images to the iPad.

HyperX Predator: Fountain Valley-based Kingston Technology Corp. gave a sneak peek of its 1TB
flash drive

Masimo Corp.: the Irvine-based medical device maker displayed its pulse oximeter, which can be used with the iPhone, iPad and iPod to measure blood flow to the finger, oxygen saturation levels and pulse rate. The product is geared for the sports and aviation industries.

CES: expected more than 150,000 visitors to Las Vegas Convention Center, other venues.
