Airport, OC Businesses Back Live Music at JWA

John Wayne Airport and local businesses will expand a pilot program that brings live music to ticketed passengers in secure areas waiting for or arriving on flights at the facility.

A rehearsal run began in February and concludes in June. Starting July 1, “We’re amping way up on performances,” a spokesperson said. A “rotating roster of musicians” will play “live acoustic guitar and piano,” a press release said.

OC-based audio-visual products company QSC LLC in Costa Mesa and musical instrument maker Yamaha Corp. in Buena Park are backing the effort, as is piano retailer Keyboard Concepts Inc., based in Van Nuys and with a local store in Fountain Valley.

“Live music in the Terminal creates a peaceful ambience for our guests to unwind and relax before their flight,” Airport Director Barry Rondinella said in the release.
