5 Laguna Beach Hotels Temporarily Closed

Five hotels in Laguna Beach have temporarily closed as a result of low occupancy levels and for safety precautions. The hotels, which include two of the city’s largest, are:

• Surf & Sand Resort; 167 rooms

• The Ranch; 97 rooms

• Casa Laguna Hotel & Spa; 23 rooms

• La Casa del Camino; 37 rooms

• Hotel Joaquin; 22 rooms

Business Journal research and estimates peg the number of employees affected at about 800. The hotels expect to reopen in April or May.

Correction: Montage Laguna Beach remains open and is accepting reservations; an earlier version of this story said the resort was suspending business.
