Surf City’s Corecon Streamlines Software for Construction Projects

Corecon Technologies Inc. in Huntington Beach has revamped its software that helps contractors keep a tight rein on construction projects.

That includes key updates to the Corecon TeamLink Portal, which streamlines access to important project information across an entire project team.

The 22-year-old company has been migrating its cloud-based software tools for construction estimating, project management and job costing to Angular 10, an enterprise open-source framework. Corecon has also upgraded the TeamLink Portal, which lets the various parties to a construction project store, exchange and comment on building project information in real time.

The TeamLink Portal and the company’s core product can be used on commercial, as well as residential projects, easing the tasks for construction companies in Orange County and elsewhere as the economy picks up.

“These contractors need to collaborate with their clients, architects, engineers and subcontractors in a very secure way and efficient way,” said Corecon President Norman Wendl. “And how they do that is via our TeamLink Portal.”

The portal is free for subscribers to the company’s cloud-based construction software system for project estimating, management and job costing.

“Our platform change will be essentially complete by July,” Wendl told the Business Journal on May 26, calling the switch a “long hard road for us.”

Builder Software

The company was founded in 1999 by construction industry experts who sought to design software with cost-effective, user-friendly tools for builders.

“We’ve been a sort of hardcore engineering company,” according to Wendl. “We will pivot come July once the platform is complete and really start ramping up sales staff and marketing efforts.”

The company of a dozen people had $2 million in revenue in 2020 and expects “significant growth” this year. The TeamLink Portal allows “the general contractor to collaborate with its client and other project team members, such as subcontractors, architects and engineers in real time.”

Highlights of the portal upgrade include:

• Completely rebuilt TeamLink on Angular 10 platform;
User interface changes;
New project home pages;
Ability to view daily logs;
Subcontractors can create invoices

Commercial, Residential

Once an external team member logs in to the digital service, navigation and access to project information corresponding to all phases of the project from preconstruction and bidding through project completion is quick, easy and secure, the company says.

Within the portal, team members can collaborate with one another by accessing, responding to and storing project information. This application is also free to all project team members given access by the subscriber. The costs vary, with a company having a maximum of 50 employees paying $600 per month for the basic subscription, for example.

In the Corecon TeamLink Portal, multiple schedules can be tracked per project such as design and construction or where there are multiple structures, for example custom homes and detached garages. These schedules can be shared with clients, architects and subcontractors through the portal. Updates to scheduling tasks will be immediately reflected on the device so there are no reporting lags.

“With this latest update, we are rounding the corner on completing major upgrades to Corecon that give subscribers even more functionality to win bids, manage projects and collaborate more closely with the project team,” Wendl said.
