Irvine Cloud Service Gets $15.5M

Irvine-based Numecent received $15.5 million in Series B funding that included $4.5 million from an investor from a previous round.

The company makes software said to deliver applications from the cloud faster and without having to install them on another device.

The new funding brings the total Numecent has raised to about $38 million.

Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investments, the venture capital arm of Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Telekom, put in the $4.5 million this time; Deutsche Telekom affiliates led a $13.6 million Series A funding round two years ago.

Numecent, founded in 2008, had prior to that raised $11 million from angel investors.

The company earlier this year had 42 employees and the Business Journal estimated its sales at about $20 million.
