A technical conference in Anaheim was abuzz with talk of 5G technology—and its still-in-process deployment and application.
The InterPack confab this month was marked by discussion among attendees and speakers on the communications technology advance, aimed at providing high-bandwidth connectivity up to 100 times faster than current standards.
Local companies involved in building 5G infrastructure include Newport Beach-based Mobilitie and the Irvine office of Houston-based Crown Castle.
University of California-Irvine researchers, meanwhile, told the Business Journal in July that they are already at work on pushing technology into 6G territory.
