Local.com Corp. Changes Name

Irvine-based online media company Local.com Corp. legally changed its name to Local Corp., effective Monday.

The company owns the local search company website local.com and daily deals service Spreebird, among other media. It has about 135 employees in Orange County and 195 companywide.

Local Corp. said its board approved the name change in August as part of its “growth beyond the website business to a more diversified local media business.”

The company is traded on the Nasdaq and will keep its LOCM trading symbol.

Shares of Local finished trading about flat at $1.68 today, for market value of about $37 million.
