Newport Beach-based aerospace consultant SM&A has acquired a provider of program management and other services to governments and companies.
SM&A acquired Cardinal Technologies Inc. of Maryland for undisclosed terms.
The deal is designed to expand SM&A into technology services for governments and their contractors.
Cardinal has helped Lockheed Martin Corp. win work for the Census and worked alongside Grant Thornton LLP under a contract with the Transportation Security Administration, according to its website.
The company has yearly revenue of $12 million, 60 full-time employees and up to 40 contractors, according to the The Gazette newspaper in Gaithersburg, Md.
Cardinal is run from the home of President Earl M. Furfine, who started the company in 1995.
SM&A helps aerospace and other contractors prepare bids for government contracts and comply with them once they’ve been won.
In 2008, the company was sold to New York private equity firm Odyssey Investment Partners LLC for $120 million.
