Three Costa Mesa Restaurants Retain Their Michelin Stars

Knife Pleat, Hana re and Taco Maria

Three Costa Mesa restaurants—Knife Pleat, Taco Maria and Hana re—have retained their one-Michelin-star status for this year.

Knife Pleat, located on the third floor of South Coast Plaza, offers a contemporary take on French cuisine by chef Tony Esnault. The restaurant received its first Michelin star last year.

At Hana re, an omakase restaurant at the Lab Anti-Mall, guests watch chef Atsushi Yokoyama prepare their multi-course meal at the sushi bar, starting at $225 per person. The restaurant received its first Michelin star in 2019.

Taco Maria, which also received its first Michelin star in 2019, offers “one of the country’s most refined expressions of Mexican cuisine,” according to the Michelin Guide website. The restaurant is led by chef Carlos Salgado and is located in the OC Mix.
