Automakers’ Sales Mixed

The majority of Orange County-based automakers beat the national sales pace for new vehicles in August, according to New Jersey-based market researcher Autodata Corp.

U.S. auto sales declined 1.9% year-over-year, adding 1.48 million cars and light trucks last month, and are on track to reach 16.14 million for the year.

Hyundai Motor America Inc. reported a 24.6% decrease—the biggest among OC automakers—attributing it to “a reduction in fleet sales that were down 53% compared with August 2016.”

U.S. dealers have sold 11.35 million vehicles this year, a 2.7% dip compared with the first eight months of 2016.
