Mall Closures Indefinite

Re-opening for many local malls and retailers that had hoped to open their doors again by late this month have shelved those plans amid uncertainty on when the state’s stay-at-home order lifts.

Centers that had originally aimed to begin re-opening over the weekend, are now shuttered until further direction from the state.

These properties include Brea Mall, Shops at Mission Viejo, South Coast Plaza, The Outlets at Orange and the Outlets at San Clemente.

Irvine retailer Tilly’s Inc. (NYSE: TLYS), which originally said stores were closed until at least March 27, said Friday it was furloughing non-management store associates across its 239 doors as part of several measures that also included salary cuts for management at corporate headquarters.

Orange County’s COVID-19 cases, as of Sunday, totaled 431 with four deaths, according to the OC Health Care Agency.
