South Coast Plaza’s newest retailer, Gentle Monster, opened its Orange County flagship store this week joining the center’s portfolio of over 280 shops.
Founded in 2011, Gentle Monster’s products focus on “weird beauty” in its lines of sunglasses and eyeglasses. The eyewear fashion company is headquartered in South Korea with subsidiary offices in Anaheim and Beijing.
Past collaborations have included French-Italian brand Moncler, videogame World of Warcraft, and artist Diplo.
The store is the brand’s fourth U.S. flagship and will be located on the second level in the Din Tai Fung restaurant wing. Occupying a 4,500-square-foot space, art sculptures and kinetic structures will be presented in-store as well.
Other new leases coming to the Costa Mesa retail destination are Alexander Wang and Missoni, arriving in February and spring 2023, respectively. Both will be West Coast exclusives at South Coast, which is the largest shopping center in OC.
