Fresh N Lean to Cut 353 Jobs in November

Layoffs due to company’s plan to move operations outside of California

Ready-to-eat meal delivery service Fresh N Lean is cutting 353 jobs at its Anaheim facility in November, according to state employment reports.

The job cuts come as the company moves part of its operations outside of California “to better meet the needs of customers nationwide,” sources told the Business Journal.

The layoffs reduce the Anaheim company’s OC headcount by about 60% to less than 200. Fresh N Lean officials told the Business Journal in April the company then counted around 550 total OC employees. Despite the job cuts, the Anaheim facility will continue its operations.

The impacted Fresh N Lean employees, who handle manufacturing, packing and shipping for the company, were given 60 days’ notice, according to a letter from Fresh N Lean to the state Employment Development Department (EDD). The layoffs will begin Nov. 27, according to company officials.

Fresh N Lean last month earned the No. 4 spot on the Business Journal’s Fastest-Growing Large Private Companies list, after nearly doubling its revenue to about $118 million over the two-year period ended June 30 this year.
