Dubai-based shopping center chain Ansar Group of Cos. will host a grand opening of a store in Tustin, its first in the U.S.
Ansar Gallery bills itself as “Target with a huge international grocery section.” It has taken 110,000 square feet formerly leased by Kmart near Tustin Marketplace. The store has been remodeled to include a bakery and a restaurant, as well as electronics, apparel, home goods, shoes, health and beauty departments. Most of its merchandise comes from Turkey, China, U.S. and Malaysia.
The remodeling had been going on since the store opened last September.
“We are proud that since our soft opening seven months ago, foot traffic has increased to over 2,500 customer per day, with many departments yet to open,” General Manger Andrew Saadat said in a statement.
Ansar Group also owns 11 stores in the Middle East. It has more than 5,000 employees, of which 220 work at the Tustin location.
