Fletcher Jones Motorcars, whose Newport Beach Mercedes dealership is the largest in the county, is reviving postponed plans to open a dealership in Ontario.
Fletcher Jones Management Group Inc. plans to open a dealership near L.A.-Ontario International Airport in early 2012, according to a report in the San Bernardino Sun newspaper.
The move reflects growing confidence in the rebound of the Inland Empire, which was among the hardest hit regions during the downturn.
In 2009, Fletcher Jones put off plans to open dealerships in Ontario and Temecula.
The dealership is set to do business as Mercedes-Benz of Ontario.
It’s set to go up near Embassy Suites Ontario-Airport hotel, which is scheduled to open in April.
Fletcher Jones Motor Cars of Newport Beach had sales of $430 million last year, making it the largest in Orange County.
The dealership is known for its showroom that resembles a luxury resort with a concierge, Starbucks, free car washes and other touches.
Fletcher Jones is the second largest dealer in the nation after El Monte’s Longo Toyota.
Parent company Fletcher Jones Management Group also runs dealerships in Hawaii, Illinois and Las Vegas.
