Boardriders Reorganizes; Cuts 170 Jobs

Cites `uncertain and changing economic landscape'

Huntington Beach-based Boardriders Inc., the parent of surfing apparel brands like Quiksilver and Billabong, announced a reorganization of its global operations, citing “an uncertain and changing economic landscape.”

It said it has eliminated 110 positions in the Americas and 60 in Asia-Pacific to “reduce complexity across the value chain and more fully leverage the global platform the company has built.”

“I am confident that these changes will set us on the path to achieving our goals and creating a more agile company suited to adapt to the evolving environment,” Chief Executive Arne Arens said in a statement. “Losing talented employees is always difficult.”

The company has 8,500 employees worldwide, including 750 in Orange County, according to the Business Journal’s most recent list of apparel companies published in May. It reported $1.8 billion in sales in 2021.

Boardriders produces and distributes branded apparel, footwear and accessories in more than 110 countries. Its other brands include ROXY, DC Shoes, RVCA, Element and VonZipper.
