St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point offered details on its planned renovation of some public areas of the property.
It plans to renovate the lobby, lobby lounge, spa and pool areas and introduce new food offerings at a grab-and-go “marketplace” and in a new “coastal cuisine” restaurant.
Closed or under renovation will be the lobby, lobby lounge, pool, spa, coffee shop, and Motif restaurant. Its beach, golf course and most dining options will remain open.
The resort filed a plan this month with the state Employment Development Department to temporarily lay off 610 of about 800 employees, 40% of them food-service-related staff. It said workers would be affected from November to June, with a formal reopening of renovated areas slated for the spring.
