A division of South Korea-based Samsung Group is planning to move its U.S. operations to Orange County in coming months. Samsung Chemical USA Inc. is currently in La Mirada and has 56 employees. It’s expected to take about 10,000 square feet at 6 Centerpointe Drive in La Palma.
The company, headed by Chief Executive Jin Hyun Park, primarily handles sales and distribution of plastic chemical resin and solid material manufactured by Cheil Industries Inc. The products are used in televisions, mobile phone cases, home appliances and automobile components, among others.
Cheil Industries is also part of Samsung Group, the largest business conglomerate in South Korea.
The Centerpointe business center in La Palma is home to CJ Foods Inc., which also ultimately tracks back to Samsung Group.
CJ Foods last year shifted its headquarters to La Palma from Commerce, following an $8 million investment in a manufacturing facility in Fullerton to help boost production of its flagship dumplings.
