Torrance-based Mitsuwa Corp. leased nearly 14,000 square feet at the Heritage Plaza in Irvine. Mitsuwa runs the largest Japanese supermarket chain here and currently has eight stores across the U.S. The company leased the space from Florida-based Regency Centers Corp. and plans to open the supermarket later this year. The lease is part of a larger $10 million renovation currently under way at the shopping plaza. This will be Mitsuwa’s first supermarket in Irvine and seventh in the state. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Omar Hussein represented Regency Centers. Carl Swanberg of Northern California’s Highland Partners represented Mitsuwa.
