Midday Stock Roundup

Persisting concerns over bond yields rattled investors Friday.

The S&P 500 was up 0.5% to 3,848.43 in midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6% to 31,209.77, while the Nasdaq rose 1.6% to 13,329.11.

Crude oil was off 1.7% to $62.34.

Gold slipped 3.1% to $1,720.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury declined 2.2% to 1.48%.

TECHNOLOGY
Costa Mesa artificial intelligence company Veritone Inc. (Nasdaq: VERI) shares moved back up 6% to $37.63, after closing down 6% on Thursday. The company had a recent market cap of $1.2 billion.

REAL ESTATE
Irvine homebuilder TRI Pointe Homes Inc. (NYSE: TPH) rose 4.9% to $19.44 for a market cap of $2.4 billion.

Other local homebuilders also up Friday include Newport Beach-based Landsea Homes Corp. (Nasdaq: LSEA), rising 0.6% to $8.87 for a market cap of $411.5 million. The New Home Company Inc. (NYSE: NWHM) of Aliso Viejo increased 1.5% to $4.67 for a market cap of $84.4 million.

The S&P Homebuilders Select Industry Index was up 2.1% to 6,267.37, with the Commerce Department reporting this week January new home sales increased.
