Irvine Co. Adds 50-Acre Park to Oak Creek Development

Revised plan cuts planned housing units

The Irvine Company plans to add a 50-acre nature park at the privately owned Oak Creek Golf Club, a modification that reduces the number of residential units planned for the 235-acre site.

The developer initially planned 3,100 housing units. The proposed park, expected to be the largest nature park in Irvine, would reduce the total of units slated for the Oak Creek development to under 3,000.

The new public park will link with and complete the Jeffrey Open Space Trail, providing park-and-trail connectivity across the entire city from Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve to Quail Hill Nature Preserve, the Irvine Company announced Friday.

“This planned nature park will significantly expand Irvine’s nationally ranked park system, with additional recreation opportunities in the center of Irvine,” Jeff Davis, senior vice president at the Irvine Company, said in a statement.
