Brea-based Nature’s Best, a distributor of vitamins, supplements and health foods that’s among Orange County’s largest private companies, plans to open a distribution center near Dallas.
Nature’s Best is looking to lease a 264,000-square-foot building north of Dallas, according to a report in the Dallas Morning News.
The site is set to serve as Nature’s Best’s second distribution center after one in Chino the company opened in 2007.
Nature’s Best, a family business with yearly sales of $300 million, distributes a variety of products, from organic foods, nutritional supplements and herbs to personal care items and frozen foods.
The company grew out of a chain of nutrition stores started by the Lindberg family in 1949.
Nature’s Best delivers to health and natural food stores, supermarkets, restaurants, colleges, schools and drug stores.
Big customers include Costa Mesa-based Mother’s Market, Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Markets and Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market Inc.
The Dallas-area facility is set to open early next year and is designed to serve Sprouts, which is expanding in the central part of the country and is Nature’s Best’s biggest customer.
The site is expected to employ about 30 employees. Nature’s Best is getting a five-year, 50% local tax rebate for opening the facility in Flower Mound, Texas.
