Genetic testing provider Ambry Genetics Corp. will open a new, 65,000-square-foot laboratory across the street from its Aliso Viejo headquarters this month.
Ambry specializes in testing for a variety of conditions, including oncology, neurology and cardiology. It has more recently made inroads into pediatric testing.
The company’s customers include drug companies and academic institutions.
Its new facility is at 15 Argonaut and is what the company calls a “super lab.”
“We’ve grown so much over the past 17 years that we hit a point where we needed a bigger lab and better technology to keep up with the volume of samples we received,” Ambry Chief Executive Charles Dunlop said.
Ambry’s new lab “made every technology automated to relieve our scientists of repetitive processes, which reduces human error, increases accuracy and precision, and gives our team extra time to conduct research,” as well as cuts “at least a week in lab processing time,” he said
Ambry, which has some 800 local workers, is privately held.
Dunlop founded it in 1999.
