The Orange County Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council was awarded the Orange County League of Conservation Voters Award for Environmental Business of the Year. The award recognized the group for its promotion of environmentally friendly practices and products and for providing environmental education to the public.

John Bedell, retired professor of sociology at California State University, Fullerton, was awarded the Orange County Board of Education’s Marian Bergeson Award. Bedell has been a board member at the university for seven years.

Harue Marsden was selected as one of Vision Monday’s 2010 Most Influential Wo-men in Optical. Vision Monday is an online optical news publication. Marsden is chief of the Stein Family Cornea and Contact Lens Ser-vice at the Eye Care Center at Southern Cali-fornia College of Opto-metry in Fullerton. She also is the president of the California Optomet-ric Association.

The American Business Awards honored Mission Viejo’s TeamLogic IT, a provider of computer services and network support, with a Stevie Award in the Website Business Services category. The awards are handed out by a board of businessmen and women from across the country.

Coastline Community College in Foun-tain Valley has been named one of the nation’s top Military Friendly Schools by G.I. Jobs magazine. The school has won the designation for the past four years. The award recognizes Coastline for providing flexible programs for military students.

UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange was ranked on U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Hospitals list for the 10th consecutive year. The hospital was listed 30th for gynecology, 32nd for urology and 46th for ear, nose and throat, in the nation.

Irvine’s KTGY Group Inc., an architectural and planning firm, was honored with a Gold Nugget Award from the Pacific Coast Builders Conference. The firm was recognized for design work on three new Habitat for Humanity homes that recently were completed in Yorba Linda.

Fullerton Chamber of Commerce hon- ored Beverly Thomson, co-owner of HostingOC.com, as Ambassador of the Year. Thomson is a six-year chamber member. She earned the award through volunteer efforts and mentoring of new members.

Fullerton’s Muckenthaler Cultural Center was awarded Arts Organization of the Year at the Orange County Arts Awards. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges made up of art educators and community and business leaders.

Southern California Minority Business Development Council honored minority entrepreneurs at its annual Supplier of the Year Awards. Recipients included Vicky Roddcharoen of Huntington Beach-based V.R. & Associates, a consulting company; Abdi Ahmed of Irvine’s NetServe Systems Inc., which provides software technical support, web design and hosting; and Aaron Walton of Los Angeles-based Walton Isaacson LLC, a marketing company.

San Juan Capistrano resident Larry Kramer was the recipient of the Orange County Heart & Soul Award. Kramer is a retired United States Navy submarine commander. The award is given to a local resident for his or her dedication to making a difference in their local community.

CoreLogic Inc. in Santa Ana, a provider of financial services, has been recognized as a 2010 Innovator by SourceMedia’s Bank Technology News. The annual listing includes 20 companies who provide products and services to the financial services industry.
