Grosses Boost Giving to LA Nursing School

The William and Sue Gross Family Foundation has committed $500,000 to Charles R. Drew University’s Mervyn M. Dymally School of Nursing in Los Angeles.

The couple’s latest commitment increases the nursing endowment fund to $2 million.

They gave $1.5 million last year, making the biggest individual contribution to the university’s nursing school since it opened in 2010.

Bill Gross, the benefactor of the private foundation in Irvine, is a co-founder and former chief investment officer at Newport Beach-based bond fund manager Pacific Investment Management Co. He’s now managing portfolios at the Newport Beach office of Denver-based Janus Capital Group Inc.
