Newport Beach-based women’s fundraising group Angelitos de Oro gave $270,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. Bank of America Corp. donated $10,000 to the nonprofit to support its school programs in San Juan Capistrano. The Tappan Foundation of Newport Beach and the Robinson Foundation of New Jersey gave $4,000. The Vintage Chevrolet Club of America’s OC chapter in Orange donated $2,600.

Irvine-based Orange County United Way is distributing $5.6 million to 89 local nonprofits that provide basic needs, education and financial programs to the poor. Orange County United Way also received $30,500 from 3M Co.

Local Wells Fargo & Co. branches donated $140,000 to 130 schools in Orange County through the Adopt-A-School program. In addition, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim donated 750 packs of school supplies to the students of Whittier Elementary School in Costa Mesa.

The Wells Fargo Foundation donated $25,000 to the Santa Ana Education Project, which seeks to improve education in Santa Ana schools.

Olive Crest in Santa Ana, a nonprofit that seeks to prevent child abuse, received a $15,000 grant from The Vons Foundation to support the organization’s Bellflower Family Resource Center. The center provides food vouchers, bus passes and other services to foster children and their foster parents.

Irvine-based South Coast Apartment Associa-tion donated $14,400 to Irvine’s Second Harvest Food Bank.

Students, parents and staff at Cornelia Connelly School in Anaheim raised $6,942

for Catholic Relief Services assistance in Haiti.

The Orange County Community Foundation in Irvine awarded $6,000 in grants to Share Our Selves, South County Senior Services, Human Optics and El Sol Science and Arts Academy.

Ra Sushi Bar Restaurant in Tustin teamed up with the Anaheim Ducks for a sushi rolling contest to raise funds for the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, which distributes money to local nonprofits. The event raised $1,752.

Capistrano Animal Rescue Effort received a $1,000 donation from the San Juan Capistrano branch of Long Beach-based Farmers & Merchants Bank.

Santa Ana-based Mercy House and Irvine’s HomeAid Orange County are developing 12 condominiums for the poor. The condos will be called the Frances Xavier Residence. Lennar Corp., which has major operations in Aliso Viejo, is the developer of the project.

Auto dealer Tustin Hummer hosted a caravan of almost 100 Hummers that were filled with toys that were donated to the Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope.
