Augie’s Quest Appoints Lynne Nieto to Chairwoman

Will lead nonprofit’s fundraising efforts following founder’s death this year

Lynne Nieto has been named the next chair of Augie’s Quest to Cure ALS after receiving unanimous support from the nonprofit’s board.

Lynne, wife of the late Augie Nieto, previously served as secretary and treasurer of Augie’s Quest, which has raised nearly $200 million in support of research aiming to determine the cure, causes and treatments for ALS. Lynne is also a board member of the ALS Therapy Development Institute, a research partner of the nonprofit.

Lynne’s husband, Augie Nieto, died in February after a nearly 18-year battle with ALS. Augie was the founder and chairman of Augie’s Quest and of exercise equipment company Life Fitness.

“It’s critical we continue the important work we started 18 years ago,” Lynne said in a statement. “We’ve shown results, and we’ve shown that our vision can change the face of ALS. I promised Augie on the day he left his body behind, that I will never give up his quest and that we all will collectively carry on his mission,” she added.
