Kate Schwartz has joined the Orange County Business Journal as a reporter and will cover manufacturing, as well as architects and engineers; commodities; government; nonprofits; and trade and logistics.
Schwartz is an attorney at the Newport Beach office of Bremer, Whyte, Brown & O’Meara LLP and teaches legal research and writing as an adjunct professor at Trinity School of Law.
She also served as an editorial extern at OC Lawyer Magazine and is currently a committee member of the International Justice Mission, which aims to “rescue thousands, protect millions, and prove that justice for the poor is possible.”
Schwartz has a journalism degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu and a juris doctorate from Chapman University in Orange.
“We welcome Kate to our staff with the same enthusiasm that prompted her return to the field of journalism,” said Business Journal Editor Jerry Sullivan. “Her arrival marks the latest round of steady newsroom growth in recent years, a trend that illustrates the Business Journal’s dedication to providing our readers with unique content, with engaging and insightful news, and analysis of the community of business we cover.”
Schwartz’ interests include airstream camping, horseback riding, reading and paddleboarding.
She said she’s excited to return to reporting, “especially in the county where I was born, raised and still call home.”
“After learning the Orange County business landscape from the perspective of a litigator, I look forward to transitioning to the role of reporter,” Schwartz added.
