City National Bank promoted Jeff Schwarzer to senior vice president of Orange County commercial banking services in Irvine. Schwarzer will provide banking services to businesses, nonprofits and government agencies. He’s been with the company for more than 10 years and previously held manager and regional vice president positions.
Craig Young has joined Union Bank NA as a senior wealth adviser in its Irvine office. Young previously was president of the Vanguard University foundation. He also is a member of the California State Bar and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
EDUCATION
University of California Irvine’s School of Law hired Michael Robin-son-Dorn as director of its Environmental Law Clinic. The clinic focuses on protecting the natural resources of Southern California. Sarah Lawsky also joined the school and will teach tax law. Christopher Whytock joined to teach business associations and other topics.
FINANCE
The Forum for Corpor-ate Directors in Tustin named Cary Hyden to its board. Hyden is a partner at Los Angeles-based Latham & Watkins LLP’s Costa Mesa office, where he works on mergers and acquisitions and corporate security matters.
INSURANCE
Ed Bray was hired as director of compliance at Irvine-based Burnham Benefits Insurance Services. Bray previously held positions at Irvine Company and Lake Forest’s Apria Healthcare Group Inc. His responsibilities include helping clients understand the current healthcare reform changes.
MEDIA
Freedom Communications Inc. in Irvine elected Larry Kramer to its board. Kramer is the founder of the financial website MarketWatch and has been a journalist for more than 20 years. Kramer is a senior adviser at Polaris Venture Partners of Massachusetts.
NONPROFIT
The Illumination Foundation in Irvine elected Steve Schoger as its board chairman and Ron Ainsworth as vice chairman. The group offers assistance to the homeless by providing medical care and housing. Schoger is the founder of Interface Psychological Services. Ainsworth recently retired as president of Trenwith Group LLC in Costa Mesa.
Wendy Guzman joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County in Tustin as enrollment and match specialist. Guzman previously served as testing coordinator for the Lynwood Unified School District. She’ll match adult mentors to children.

Dillon Dummit and Kenneth Robertson joined Newport Beach’s Cresa Partners of Orange County, part of Boston-based Cresa Partners LLC, a real estate brokerage that represents tenants. Dummit joined as a senior adviser. Robertson joined as senior vice president. Dummit specializes in purchase and lease assignments. Robertson represents Nissan Motor Co.’s U.S. arm, among other clients.
Lawrence Casey was named president of Costa Mesa’s Donahue Schriber Realty Group Inc. Casey will continue his current role as the company’s chief operations officer. David Mossman was named chief investment officer. Mossman currently serves as executive vice president of acquisitions and will continue that role.
SERVICES
Michael Sawitz has been elected president of the National Alliance of Retail Ship Centers, a trade group representing mailing and shipping retailers. Sawitz is chief executive of Irvine-based Aim Mail Centers. He is also a member of Score, a small business mentoring and training group.
Anaheim’s Disneyland Resort named Lisa Haines vice president of public affairs. Haines will oversee community relations and company communications at the theme parks, hotels and Downtown Disney District shopping center. Haines has been with the company for five years. She previously served as vice president of corporate communications at Woodland Hills-based Health Net Inc.
TECHNOLOGY
Robert Gifford has been named vice president of global logistics at Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc., a distributor of technology products. Gifford will oversee distribution centers and supply chain operations in his newly created position. He previously worked for Ecolab Inc., a sanitary supply company based in Minnesota.
Costa Mesa-based QSC Audio Products LLC promoted Joe Pham to chief executive. Pham previously served as chief strategy and technology officer. The company supplies amplifiers, loudspeakers and computer control systems.
