Why did you enter the military? I wasn’t ready for college at that time. I wanted/needed to mature.
Enlistment age: 18
Where did you serve? Stationed at Camp Pendleton and did two WestPacs
What did you learn? Tons of life lessons, some the hard way. But the principles of leadership have stuck with me the most.
What could you do in the military that you couldn’t do in civilian life? We used C4 to blow up a house during a training op.
What was the biggest lesson you learned about discipline? Anyone can learn discipline with the right motivation.
Did you deploy overseas and what was your takeaway? Yes. Experiencing so many cultures at a young age opened my eyes to how people live, think and work all over the world. It taught me to appreciate what we have here but also to respect different ways of doing things. It gave me a broader sense of patience, adaptability and gratitude that still influence how I approach business and life today.
How has the military helped your business career? The military taught me how to hold people accountable, make decisions under pressure, and stay calm when things get tough.
