OC500 2025: TONY MOISO

TONY MOISO

CHAIRMAN/CEO

RANCHO MISSION VIEJO

WHY: About 6K acres of the 23K-acre Rancho Mission Viejo, a suburban enclave near San Juan Capistrano, will be developed into houses and the remaining 17K to be kept as natural reserve. The ranch property has been in the hands of three families, Moiso, O’Neill and Avery, since 1882.

IN THE NEWS: In March, donated $50M to Providence Mission Hospital, located on the land that RMV donated in 1969, to support its $712M expansion. Company began developing its last big parcel, 23K acres, in 2013. RMV ranked No. 1 among OC’s best-selling master planned communities in 2024, according to John Burns Research and Consulting.

NOTABLE: Served in the army and joined the family company as vice president in the mid-1960s. Likes to see RMV as a ranch management business, as opposed to being a land developer. Father-in-law of Jeremy Laster, president of RMV.

QUOTABLE: “He (Tony) tells everybody, every day, your real life comes first. He’ll walk the office at 5:01 p.m. and if you’re still in your office, he’ll reach in and turn your light off.” — Jeremy Laster
