TAYLOR MORRISON
WHY: Son of Major General William Lyon, founder of Lyon Homes Inc. before it was acquired by Taylor Morrison in 2020. The senior Lyon was also a founding chairman of Commercial Bank of California and founder of Lyon Air Museum near John Wayne Airport.
IN THE NEWS: Bill Lyon put his parents’ “dream home” in Coto de Caza on the market for $125M this year. The 137-acre property could set a record for a residential sale if it sells anywhere near its asking price. It remained on the market as of mid-October, according to The Altman Brothers website listing.
NOTABLE: The successful buyer of the Lyon Estate would purchase more than 40K square feet that includes guest homes, a private helipad, a 10-stall stable complex, a tennis court, a brick-clad lower-level wine cellar and a playhouse. The equine portion of the property includes a riding arena.
QUOTABLE: “It’s one of the best estates available this side of the Mississippi.” —Josh Altman, representing Bill Lyon in the sale of the Lyon Estate
