Young & Rubicam Brands has picked up a big advertising deal from Hilton Hotels Corp.
The agency is set to handle creative duties for the $40 million to $50 million Hilton account, sources told Adweek.
Y & R;’s Irvine office led the pitch with strategic help from its New York operations and creative resources from Chicago. The Irvine office is expected to take the lead on managing the account.
The agency beat out Omnicom’s TBWA/Chiat/Day in New York, GSD & M; in Irving, Texas, Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson in New York and the incumbent IPG’s Foote, Cone & Belding.
The Hilton deal is a welcome one for Y & R;’s Irvine office. The unit lost a few big accounts earlier this year: part of Ford Motor Co.’s Jaguar Cars, which is part of Irvine-based Premier Automotive Group, and Sony Electronics Inc. in San Diego.
Y & R; is a unit of Britain’s WPP Group PLC.
