The World Trade Institute started in 1972 on the 50th floor of the World Trade Center, originally as an education outreach arm of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. New York-based Pace University took over the school from the Port Authority in 1997.
Following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the school set up new offices near the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.
The school offers global trade and logistics classes through its School of International Trade and Commerce and its Language Center, as well as seminars on a wide variety of trade and logistics-related topics. The school requires course instructors to have a strong background in trade-related industry, rather than academia.
