Orange County’s first Erewhon grocery store is slated to open in Costa Mesa in September 2027, according to the company’s website.
Erewhon, an aspirational grocery brand known for serving $20 smoothies, will take over a 20,092-square-foot warehouse space on 17th Street between Bear Flag Fish Co. and The Harp Inn.
The single-story building, owned by Newport Beach-based Massen Greene Charitable Trust, is currently leased by a fitness center called The 12 and retailer T-Shirts Warehouse Inc., according to CoStar.
Erewhon, founded by Aveline and Michio Kushi in the 1960s, currently operates 12 stores in Southern California with five more in the works. The Costa Mesa location is among three new openings Erewhon has scheduled for 2027.
