Laguna Beach-based venture capital firm Springboard Capital has invested $5 million in San Diego wireless company Ameranth Technology Systems Inc.
The funding follows a recent, undisclosed investment in Ameranth by Microsoft Corp. Ameranth provides wireless software to the hospitality industry that works with Microsoft’s PocketPC.
“The Microsoft investment made Ameranth an attractive investment,” said Springboard spokesman Howard East.
Springboard holds placements in other companies beyond the wireless industry. The company is also interested in business-to-business e-commerce, Internet equipment and energy companies. Earlier this year, Springboard was among the investors in Irvine-based ProcessClaims.com’s first outside investment round.
“We look for companies that we feel will make it to the public market place,” East said.
