• Cloud-based platform ZOTT joined with AT&T to give hospital patients access to DirecTV for Business through ZOTT’s content platform.
Many patients and families are limited during hospital stays to just a few channels of local TV stations. The collaboration of ZOTT and the big wireless-programming provider allows users to enjoy features, such as live television, including NFL games, streaming on any platform of their choice.
Dana Point-based ZOTT enables patients to access an extensive library of entertainment and educational content, such as music, video games and live-chat messaging, to improve patients’ hospital experience. It was founded last summer by father and son Jim and Taylor Carol, inspired by 10-year-old Taylor’s five-year hospital stay after a 2010 leukemia diagnosis. Entrepreneur Taylor just graduated from Harvard University.
• Glendale-based Washos is steadily expanding into Orange County. Its app provides on-demand car wash and detailing services at any location. General Manager Arabo Beiki said it’s gotten demand for its services in Irvine and Newport Beach, and that it hopes to continue growing and eventually have a physical presence in Orange County.
Washos will add OC-based technicians to provide the services.
