Pacific Investment Management Co. is promoting the shared strengths of its leadership team on wearepimco.com, a new website of the Newport Beach-based firm.
The website features several videos and slides, with an emphasis on the firm’s six chief investment officers, who are now heading the firm following former Chief Investment Officer Bill Gross, left in September to join Janus Capital Group.
Gross is based in Janus’ Newport Beach office.
Pimco has about $1.9 trillion in assets and manages the world’s biggest bond fund.
The company spent $6.1 million on advertising in the first half of this year, up from the $6 million it spent in all of 2013, according to New York-based Kantar Media. Its media buys so far include print and digital ads in various financial publications, including the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg.
Photo Memories
Grupo Gallegos’ new campaign for the Alzheimer’s Association is asking supporters to donate their favorite photos to help fight the disease that affects more than 5 million Americans.
Images are uploaded to the association’s “The Unforgettable Collection,” hosted online by stock image licensing platform IMGembed Inc. Donated photos can be shared via social media and are available for sale, with all proceeds going to the nonprofit.
The Huntington Beach-based advertising agency said the “Give a memory, save a memory” campaign slogan “ties to the idea that by donating a photo and sharing with their social networks, users are not only preserving their memory within the photo collection but also raising awareness for the [association’s] mission.”
“By tying into the hugely popular activity of photo-sharing, we are hoping to leverage the millennial audience and turn their attention towards using their photos for a social benefit,” Marty Orzio, chief creative officer at Grupo Gallegos, said in a news release.
The campaign follows the agency’s pro bono work for the association—a promotional postcard titled “Husband”—for which it received a Bronze Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this past summer.
SIMA Image Awards
Marketing campaigns by several OC-based sports apparel brands have been shortlisted for the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association’s 2014 SIMA Image Awards. Winners are expected to be announced at the 12th annual awards ceremony on Feb. 12 at the City National Grove of Anaheim.
Men’s marketing campaign of the year contenders include “True to This” by Volcom Inc. in Costa Mesa; “Life’s Better in Boardshorts” by Australia-based Billabong International Ltd.; “Surfing is Everything” by Rip Curl Inc. in Costa Mesa; “Volume 7: Rocketship to Reykjavik” by Roark Revival in Laguna Beach; and “Creators & Innovators” by Vissla in Costa Mesa.
Women’s marketing campaign of the year nominees are “Let’s Go Anywhere” by L*Space by Monica Wise in Santa Ana; “My Bikini” by Rip Curl; “Shave Ice” by OluKai in Irvine; “Today is Perfect” by O’Neill Women’s in Irvine; and “True to This” by Volcom.
Cooley on Board
Todd Cooley has been elected to the Public Relations Society of America’s board of directors to represent the organization’s Western district, which consists of chapters in Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, California and Hawaii. He’s principal of the Todd Cooley Co., a digital marketing and public relations firm in Santa Ana.
