The Picnic Company OC curates elegant, professionally styled picnics for any occasion from date nights to proposals to birthdays and family outings.
All picnics include complete setups to match the desired themes, from umbrellas to seating to exquisite table settings. Flowers, candles and lighting are supplied, along with custom blankets as needed. Food and drink can be supplied through preferred vendors, or guests can bring their own.
Julie French, a former fashion director, photo stylist and interior designer, launched the Picnic Company OC last year in response to the pandemic.
“People couldn’t go to restaurants, and we needed to start a new business that was safe and memorable for everyone,” said French. “This was a way to combine my skills to create luxuriously-styled, picture perfect picnics for people to enjoy outdoors.”
French noted that they customize every picnic for each client.
“For a proposal picnic, I used yellow rose petals and yellow flowers for the table – the client’s favorite color – along with a customized chalk board to welcome the couple,” recalled French. “The guy was so excited, he proposed within 30 seconds of arriving at the picnic, so I ended up as the photographer to capture the special moment.”
The most challenging picnic, said French, was one at Crescent Beach in Laguna Beach.
“We had to carry everything up and down 50 steps and walk 200 yards to the end of the beach. A long trek, but a wonderful setting.”
French said that the most satisfying part of her business is “creating a barefoot luxury experience that will make each client happy with memories that will last a lifetime.”
