Owner Arte Moreno of the Los Angeles Angels baseball team has a busy year ahead; not just with his team, which will be entering its 55th season starting in March.
In a long-awaited and highly publicized deal with the city, a newly created Arizona-based firm affiliated with Moreno called SRB Management LLC will buy a 153-acre site that holds the stadium and the parking lots that surround it from the city for a reported $325 million.
Expect details to emerge regarding development plans starting in the spring, with several questions waiting to be answered: What are the size, composition and timeline of Moreno’s development plans? Who will partner with him on the project? Will a new ballpark replace Angel Stadium?
And finally, how will plans coincide with that of Ducks owner Henry Samueli, who is expected to reveal proposals for a redevelopment of his own on the other side of the Orange (57) Freeway?
