Huntington Beach-based Merchant Service Group LLC has received an “eight-figure investment” from Merchants’ Choice Payment Solutions in Woodlands, Texas.
Merchant Service Group, or MSG, will use the funds for expansion and product development, including multilingual mobile applications, said Chief Executive Jason La.
The company provides payment services for credit-card purchases for wholesalers and retailers in numerous languages, including English, Vietnamese, Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin, and Russian.
Merchants’ Choice is an affiliate of Woodforest National Bank, which has about $4.2 billion in total assets.
La and two partners founded MSG about 11 years ago and have built it into a company that employs 300, including 20 in its Orange County office, with sales representatives across 48 states. The company does not disclose financial information.
La, a first-generation Vietnamese American, previously was a senior consultant to Gamma Enterprise Technologies Inc., a data management company in Woodland Hills. Gamma was acquired in 2008 by Applimation Inc. on undisclosed terms, and Applimation was acquired the following year for $40 million by Informatica Corp.
