Mission Hospital, located in Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach, named Seth Teigen its new chief executive, effective Aug. 5.
“Seth is an inspiring leader and most importantly, aligned with the mission and values of Providence St. Joseph Health,” Victor S. Jordan, chief operating officer at Providence St. Joseph Health, which manages Mission Hospital, told the Business Journal.
Mission Hospital is OC’s fourth-largest hospital, with about $633.6 million in revenue last year at its two locations. Teigen comes to Mission Hospital from Milwaukee, where he served as president of Acension St. Francis Hospital.
In 2016, Teigen was named one of the Rising Stars: 50 Healthcare Leaders Under 40 by Becker’s Hospital Review. He also made the 40 under 40 list for Madison in Business Magazine. In 2012, he received the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year award from the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He succeeds Tarek Salaway, who relocated late last year to the Bay Area. A native of Wisconsin, Teigen and his wife, Nicole, have two sons, Deacon, 8, and Graham, 6.
Teigen in October will oversee the opening of Mission Hospital’s newest addition: the Judi and Bill Leonard Institute for Cancer Prevention, Treatment, and Wellness.
Dr. Lloyd S. Nagasawa is the Leonard Institute’s new medical director.
The four-story tall cancer center will be at Mission Hospital which is just behind The Shops at Mission Viejo.
It will incorporate treatments such as radiation oncology, imaging services, and infusion. It will also have a comprehensive research and clinical trial program.
