Indices were up in midday trading based on gains in U.S. manufacturing and construction. The S&P 500 rose 2.1% to 1,972.05. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 2.0% to 16,840.97 The NASDAQ was up 2.4% to 4,668.12.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 4.5% to 1.82%.
The price of gold was down 0.3% to $1,231.
MANUFACTURING
Foothill Ranch-based Kaiser Aluminum Corp shares were up 2.2% to $78.26 and a market cap of $1.4 billion after shares in the producer of semi-finished aluminum products were upgraded to a โbuyโ by Deutsche Bank and raised its price target to $90 from $85.
SERVICES
Anaheim-based Willdan Group Inc. shares were up 7.7% to $8.49 and a market cap of $67 million on news the consulting company would acquire New York-based power engineering company Genesis Engineering.
