The S&P 500 rose 0.16% to 2,026.78 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28% to 17,534.21 and the Nasdaq was flat at 4,618.75.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.89% to 2.37%.
The price of gold was down 0.15% to $1,144.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine-based Western Digital Corp was down 2.8% to $98.12 and a market cap of $23 billion. Hitachi Ltd. plans to sell 5.4 million shares it owns in Western Digital at $96 a share. The shares are some of the 25 million Hitachi received when Western Digital bought that company’s storage technology business in March 2012. Hitachi sold 12.5 million shares last November; it will own about 7 million shares after the upcoming sale.
SERVICES
Irvine-based Autobytel Inc. was up 10% to $10.28 and a market cap of $93 million on a 26% increase in third quarter revenues. It reported $27.4 million in revenue this year compared with $21.6 million year-over-year. Gross profit grew 25% to $11 million and third quarter net income was $1.1 million, down from $1.3 million in the same period last year.
