The S&P 500 rose 0.37% to 1,989.68 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.92% to 17,130.40 and the Nasdaq was flat at 4,552.16.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond declined 1.1% to 2/3%.
The price of gold was down 2.1% to $1,199.60.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based Masimo Corp. was up 6.4% to $24.71 and a market cap of $1.4 billion after it reported a third quarter profit of $14.9 million or 27 cents per share, beating analyst expectations of 25 cents per share. Revenue for the quarter was $144.1 million, in line with analysts’ estimates of $144.2 million.
TECHNOLOGY
Costa Mesa-based TTM Technologies Inc. was up 4.5% to $6.28 and a market cap of $523.4 million after it reported third quarter revenue of $345.3 million, up slightly from $338.7 million in the same period last year, and earnings of $7.7 million, compared with a loss of $7.7 million in the same period last year.
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software was up 25% to 95 cents and a market cap of $36 million after it reported third quarter revenues up 8% compared with the same period last year and trimming losses year-over-year from $13 million in the third quarter of 2013 to $1.1 million in its most recent quarter.
