Midday Stock Roundup

Stock indices recovered slightly in midday trading on positive jobs data.

The S&P 500 rose 0.27% to 1,867.55. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.14% to 16,164.69. The Nasdaq rose 0.17% to 4,222.38.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 3.3% to 2.16%.

The price of gold was down 0.16% to $1,242.80.

SERVICES

Newport Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. was up 8.2% to $7.27 and a market cap of $653 million on high volume and higher shipments of natural gas. The maker of natural gas pumping stations said that in the third quarter it surpassed 50 million gallons delivered and introduced a new vapor barrier element for its tanks. By midday, it had traded 2.5 million shares, compared to a 90-day full-day average of 1.25 million.

Irvine-based Consumer Portfolio Services Inc. continued climbing for a second day on positive earnings, up 3.2% to $6.90 and a market capitalization of $174.5 million. It closed up 1.7% yesterday. The specialty automobile finance company reported third-quarter net income up 26% to $7.8 million, or 24 cents a share, compared to $5.9 million, or 19 cents a share, in the same period last year.
