The S&P 500 rose 0.93% to 1,953.06 in midday trading Tuesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.95% to 16,878.04 and the Nasdaq rose 0.9% to 4,423.87.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 1.36% to 2.38%.
The price of gold was down 0.11% to $1,211.20.
RETAIL
OC apparel retailers were down heavily for a second day in a row, running counter to a slight recovery in the sector. Anaheim-based Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. was down 5% to $1.69 and a market cap of $117 million. Irvine-based Tilly’s Inc. was down 4% to $7.02 and a market cap of $197 million. Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. was down 5.3% to 50 cents and a market cap of $42.4 million.
