Shares of Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. jumped more than 65% in the morning hours after the Aliso Viejo-based drug maker announced positive results from a second-phase clinical trial of its product as being “associated with significantly [reducing] agitation” in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. The Aliso Viejo-based company had recent market capitalization of about $2 billion.
TECHNOLOGY
Newport Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. fell 3% to a market value of $783.3 million. The company has seen a steady decline in its stock price over the past month, falling nearly 8% over the period. A recent technical analysis by Forbes indicated the company’s stock was oversold. The downward trend continued despite Clean Energy’s announcement last week that it will start fueling the first heavy-duty natural gas trucks used by Bimbo Bakeries USA, the biggest baker in the country.
