The S&P 500 was flat at 1,992.07 in midday trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was also flat at 17,036.25 and the Nasdaq rose 0.31% to 4,546.24.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 0.3% to 2.40%.
The price of gold was up 0.44% to $1,281.
RESTAURANTS
Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco Holdings Inc. was up 3.3% to $30.85 and a market cap of $1.1 billion. It said it would develop 20 franchised locations in Houston and San Antonio with a multibrand operator.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine-based Masimo Corp. was up 2% to $22.39 and a market cap of $1.2 billion. It said a study shows its acoustic monitoring technology during general anesthesia use is helpful in early identification of at-risk patients.
